PANTHER DUO SIGN WITH SAU BASEBALL
Surrounded by a crowd of family and friends, Magnolia Panther seniors Dalen Blanchard and Cade Browning, signed letters-of-intent to play baseball for Southern Arkansas University on Friday, November 11. Yet to start their Panther senior season, the two have already put up impressive statistics on the baseball field.
Coach Bobby Beeson stated that Dalen, as the Panther catcher, was the defensive MVP for the team last year and noted how their pitcher’s lives were easier knowing that Dalen was behind the plate. Dalen had a 355 batting average, and on base percentage of 600, and a slugging average of 705. He also hit 7 home runs, 7 doubles and had 18 runs batted in. Coach Beeson acknowledged that Dalen has been a 2 time All-Conference selection and a 1 time All-State player.
Dalen is the son of Amanda and Toby Blanchard
Coach Beeson expressed how versatile Cade was in that he could play almost all the infield positions. He also said the thing he loved about Cade was that he was one of the hardest workers on the team and gave an example of his hard work in the weight room and how he transformed his body since his sophomore year. Cade had a batting average of 330, an on base percentage of 500, and a slugging average of 460. Cade also hit 6 doubles, 25 runs batted in, and had 17 bases on balls.
Cade is the son of Brandy and Steve Browning.

*Teacher Spotlight*
Christy Owen teaches in our English Department at MHS. Mrs. Owens says, "When I was in school, I had teachers who helped me see my potential and gave me opportunities to shape and refine that potential. I went into education to do the same thing. Every student should have someone to support them, encourage them, and be their cheerleader."
She would also like to give a shout-out to MHS! "Magnolia High School is a wonderful place to work. I have so much support and encouragement from the people I work with. MHS has invested a lot of money, time, and resources into ensuring each child on this campus succeeds."
Thank you Mrs. Owen for all you do for our students at MHS!

Students in Mrs. Love’s Marketing Business Enterprise classes completed a business ownership challenge yesterday. Students were able to experience different types of business ownership: Corporation, Partnership, Sole Proprietor or Franchise. They completed a series of tasks based on the ownership they were assigned, and the government workers oversaw all the businesses to ensure each task was in compliance. Students analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of each business type.

Congratulations to Sherman Glass, our October 2022 Teacher of the Month at Magnolia High School. He is a recipient of this award based on his dedication to not only FFA, but to all the students involved with the program as well as the students that take his Ag Mechanics Pathway courses. During the month of October, Mr. Glass spent weeks away from home helping students exhibit their livestock projects at many fairs. He hauled livestock to the Columbia County Fair, 4 States Fair in Texarkana, District Fair in Hope, Arkansas Youth Expo in Fayetteville, and Arkansas State Fair in Little Rock. He attended the FFA National Convention to support an MHS FFA member in Indianapolis, Indiana. Mr. Glass had many late and sleepless nights and very early mornings in the livestock barn and we appreciate his dedication and willingness to support our students. Mr. Glass also does an outstanding job in the shop teaching our students how to work safely on different projects. We want to congratulate Mr. Glass and thank him for his contribution to excellence at Magnolia High School. #Win4Kids
Thank you to HealthQuest Therapy for providing a gift card for our teacher of the month.
