Magnolia FFA Achieves Record-Breaking Success at Arkansas FFA State Convention
Magnolia, AR — The Magnolia High School FFA Chapter celebrated an outstanding performance at the Arkansas FFA State Convention, earning a record number of honors and recognition across multiple leadership and career development events. This marks one of the most successful state convention appearances in chapter history.
Overall, Magnolia FFA members earned six state championships, three state runner-up finishes, one State Star Finalist recognition, one Top 4 finalist placement, four State FFA Degrees, and Conduct of Chapter Meeting Team state qualification. The chapter was also named the Southern District Sweepstakes Runner-Up, highlighting the program’s overall excellence.
The Conduct of Chapter Meeting Team advanced to the state level and was recognized as a State Finalist. Team members included Taylor Jolly, Tinley Cole, Kaden Slaughter, Gracie Linton, Londyn Jacobs, Tate Walthall, and Olivia Harlon.
Individually, Magnolia FFA members achieved top honors in several leadership development events. Michael Boyd was named State Champion in the Job Interview Leadership Development Event (LDE) qualifying him for Nationals in October. He was also selected as a recipient of an Arkansas FFA Foundation Scholarship. Tatum Carter earned a Top 4 Finalist placement in the highly competitive Discussion Meet LDE.
In the Agriscience Fair, Magnolia students demonstrated excellence in research and innovation. Michael Boyd and Tatum Carter were named State Champions in Division 6 Plant Science, advancing to the national level of competition. Shelby Gill and Baylee Kinnaird earned State Runner-Up honors in Division 6 Social Systems.
Magnolia FFA members also excelled in Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Proficiency Awards, which recognize students for their hands-on work experience and entrepreneurship in agriculture. The following students were recognized at the state level:
Jerry Barnes – Gold Rank, Agricultural Services
Savannah Allhands – Gold Rank and State Champion, Beef Production Placement
Jaber Abbaspour – Gold Rank and State Champion, Diversified Horticulture Placement
Hayden Cook – Gold Rank and State Champion, Poultry Production
Tatum Carter – Gold Rank, Small Animal Care and Production
Michael Boyd – Gold Rank and State Champion, Swine Production
Students earning State Champion honors in proficiency areas will advance to national competition, where they will compete for a chance to be named a National Finalist.
In addition, four Magnolia FFA members were awarded the prestigious State FFA Degree, the highest degree the Arkansas FFA Association can bestow at the state level. Recipients included Savannah Allhands, Michael Boyd, Hayden Cook, and Shelby Gill.
Michael Boyd was further recognized as a State Star Finalist in Placement, one of the most distinguished honors awarded to FFA members for their outstanding Supervised Agricultural Experience programs.
Adding to the chapter’s accomplishments, Shelby Gill has signed to pursue a degree in agricultural education at Southern Arkansas University, continuing her commitment to the future of agricultural education.

The Magnolia FFA Chapter continues to be a leader in agricultural education, combining classroom instruction, leadership development, and real-world experience through FFA and SAE programs.
